A dictator is not just bad but evil!

Many dictators create a cult of personality around themselves which helps them to influence masses.


A dictator is known as a political leader who flaunts one’s absolute power. In other words the one who abuses an extraordinary amount of personal power is termed as a dictator. Our history is filled with many evil dictators who ruled through fear and violence.A dictator is a person who has unrestricted control over a country’s government. The term dictatorship is often associated with brutality and oppression. It is believed that many dictators create a cult of personality around themselves which helps them to influence masses. Dictators are considered to be individuals with an authoritative personality towards their subordinates. Our world has seen many such evil dictators over the years and most of them are hated even today. Here is the list of five evil dictators who had more control over people than one could ever imagine.

Kim Jong-Il – The Dictator

Kim succeeded his father (Kim Il-sung) and became the supreme leader of the democratic people’s republic of Korea (DPRK). He and his father is directly responsible for the deaths of millions of North Koreans. By many he is hailed as the fearless leader and the most powerful leader of North Korean. He amplified his power by demanding absolute obedience with no compromise from his party officials. His policy to cut off the country from external trade led to an economic stagnation in North Korea which led to the great starvation. In North Korea every aspect of a civilian’s political, social and economic life is controlled by the Kim’s government. He died of a suspected heart attack in the year 2011. He is well known for making some insanely bad decisions.

Idi Amin Dada – The Dictator

Idi Amin was the president of Uganda and took total control over his nation from 1971 – 1979. The number of people killed during his regime is estimated to be around 500,000. He had served in both the British and Ugandan army which helped him to groom himself as a leader. It was during his years in power, Amin was supported by powers such as Libya, Israel and Great Britain. During interviews, which he gave during his exile Amin never expressed any remorse for the nature of his regime. The misery that he has done to his own people is indescribable.

Mao Zedong – The Dictator

Mao is famous for being one of the communist leaders of the Republic of China and a ruler who thirsted for more power. The founding father of people republic of China is also known as Chairman Mao. His strategies and policies are collectively known as Maoism. In about five years, he killed around 6 million by indiscriminately sentencing them to death. His policies also starved about 20 million and on top of that he had numerous enemies of the state executed. He gained most of his supporters by driving imperialism out of china. The population of china has almost doubled under his leadership. He had a strong presence in China and around the world in popular culture. He still exists in people consciousness and influence several generation of people’s life through his ideologies. His policies and political purges from 1949 to 1976 caused the deaths of 49 to 78 million people. Still now many people think that Mao had done many things for the development of China but all I can say is think about the number and then ask yourself.


Adolf Hitler – The Dictator

Adolf Hitler doesn’t need much of an introduction as he was famous for being the leader of the Nazis – a German party. He and his regime are responsible for the death of millions of people. Hitler fought in the world war I has claimed that war is the greatest of all experience. He is the main reason for implementation and execution of holocaust. His racially motivated ideologies had earned him enough hate all around the world and by many he is considered to be the most hated dictator of all time. He is described as one the world’s worst mass murderer in the entire history. The Nazi dictator took his own life when he realized that his defeat was imminent.


Joseph Stalin – The Dictator

He became the leader of Soviet Union after Lenin died in 1924, and launched government programs that made the country more progressive. His attempt to move to the new economy, however, led to the starvation of nearly 10 million people. With many intellectuals and activists not in favor of his leadership, Stalin also launched the “Great Purge”, killing every person who opposed him and his ideologies. He screwed up the economy which led to massive famine. Stalin had full control over his country and people until his death in 1953.

Leadership is not a dictatorial role. Follow the one who listens not the one who dictates.
